Why I Began Restoring Order
Back in 1999, I founded Restoring Order because I wanted to help people not just simplify their lives, not just find a “place for everything”, but I really wanted to help people take back their lives in every area.
The magazines that we buy at the checkout aisle and all the television programs would have us believe that organizing is about “tips, tricks, and how-tos”; but at Restoring Order, that’s just not our approach to a home, business, or life that is out-of-order. We know from years of experience that a simple trick or shortcut is not going to change a life (in fact, it will lead to disillusionment and hopelessness because shortcuts actually short-circuit the process of true order).
So, we are in the business of: restoring lives! We’re not just interested in helping folks “organize” their life; we want to help them “order” their lives from the inside out! A life of order is one where the external life you live (manifested in your environment – your home, your business, your car, etc.) matches your internal life. An ordered life is one of CONGRUENCE, ALIGNMENT, and PEACE! (And who of us in this chaotic world don’t long for peace?!)
The #1 thing we hear from people is that they are totally overwhelmed. They’re not spending time with their families, they’re stressed out all the time, they don’t like their jobs. They just don’t feel good about life. They feel DISconnected and DISheartened. Restoring Order is about REnewing people, REpurposing environments, and REclaiming territory in your life!
I simply believe that we are all CREATED FOR A PURPOSE. I believe that life is worth living every day and living it to the fullest because we were meant to have abundant life! And I want to share with you that Restoring Order was birthed to help you MAKE ROOM IN YOUR LIFE FOR THE THINGS THAT MATTER. (Because really who cares if you get organized if you just have some more color coded files? Who cares? Now that might be part of the process, but that is a means not an end.)
We deeply desire to help our clients and friends and readers and listeners (and everyone who consumes Restoring Order in its various forms) take back lost territory, practice better stewardship, and BREAK OUT OF THE BONDAGE OF DISORDER – because we really do believe from years “in the trenches” that disorder is a true bondage. It is entrapping to be disorganized.
In the privileged context of restoring lives, we aim to do nothing short of ENDING HOPELESSNESS. We want to help people ENJOY THE LIFE THEY WERE MEANT TO LIVE because they have a life of more order! That could mean order in your schedule, order in your home, order in your office, and of course systems are a part of that, but they’re all about what works for you. And a life that is a life of order is a life of greater purpose and intentionality.
