Simplify Sale launched as an annual event to Give Back

The Simplify Sale is now annual event to benefit community

The Simplify Sale; a new festive, free, and annual community event is coming to the west side. Vicki Norris, a national organizing expert and President of Restoring Order – launched three “Simplify Sales” in Sherwood the 4th Saturdays of summer in 2009: July 25th, August 22nd, and September 26th. The Simplify Sale is a huge vintage yard sale, outdoor concert, and barbecue helping to raise household goods for the needy in the area and helping cluttered folks lighten up, make money, and give well.

Over 500 people attended the first Sale on July 25th to check out the new affair and enjoyed 40 participant stations. The unique combination of charity event, bargains, band, and barbecue generated media interest, including a KPTV Fox 12 on-site television interview. Attendees at each Sale could enter to win an organizing makeover including organizing, interior design, and technology consulting.

“It was heartening to see so many locals at our first event and to experience how everyone has embraced the Sales. Each year I will grow the Simplify Sale to help participants simplify their life – from station vendors selling their household clutter to attendees who are connecting with life-simplifying service providers. Best of all we’re raising practical items for the needy” quoted Norris.

Station vendor Alison Duncan of Beaverton commented about her experience at the Simplify Sale;

“It was a wonderful set-up, and I enjoyed the band and just the general fun feeling. This was a great opportunity for me. I’d needed to get rid of a lot of things and had considered (several times) doing a yard sale at my house, but my yard and small street aren’t conducive to traffic or setting up a level table. Perfect! “
